Delhi Based Indian Designer Suket Dhir honored at the International Woolmark Prize Dubai 2015

The much awaited regional round of the coveted International Woolmark Prize -India, Pakistan and Middle East took place last evening at Hotel Manzil, Downtown Dubai. Designers showcased their collection in Merino wool under the men’s and women’s wear category.

The Woolmark company’s International Woolmark Prize(IWP) is an annual award celebrating emerging designers.The regional awards are held in six regions-Asia, Australia, British Isles, Europs,India, Pakistan and Middle East and USA . Six menswear and womenswear finalist are selected at the IWP finals

Delhi based Suket Dhir did India proud by winning the regional leg yesterday under the menswear category.Trained at the
National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi, his aesthetic is best
described as Indo centric western menswear, with a distinctive classic look. Adherence to the
‘Less is More’ philosophy lends to his garments a classic air, which is further
highlighted through subtle detailing and a hint of quirk. Old school tailoring and
finishing processes add to the level of luxury

Dubai-based brand Taller Marmo by designer Riccardo Audisio and Yago Gioicoechea  won the regional award under the womenswear category

He shared his thoughts after winning the coveted prize stating” I just put ahead with my best efforts, used traditional Indian Kasuti embroidery and Ikat print for my creation for this round but the competition was real hard”. The next step now is to prepare for the finals which will be held in Florence /New York in 2016:)
